A project for renowned contemporary artist Simryn
Gill and writer/anthropologist Yao Souchou,
encompassing a new studio, darkroom and internal
renovations to their residence.
The painting of St Jerome in his study, by Antonello
da Messina, provided the inspiration for the architecture
of the art & writing studio. The idea of one's
own intimate space within a larger communal room
which creates both a sense of privacy and outlook.
Our work on this project inspired the client to
write the poem Ode To
a Tin Shed.
